Attention all 8th grade students

and parents!

PHS will be hosting a Freshman Pre-Registration night in order to help you and your student choose classes for next year.

Where: PHS Cafeteria

When:  Monday February 25th

          5:30 - 6:30pm

If you can not make it to this event, please contact me at one of the schools so that we can schedule a time to meet during the day.

Your student will be sent home with a registration packet on Friday the 22nd for you to review together.  Please be sure to go over it with your child so that on the 25th you can bring whatever questions you have and an idea of what classes you would like to choose.

Learning Styles...which is yours?

Visual Learners:  Learn by watching.  They recall images from the past when trying to remember.  Often try to picture the way things look.  40% of students are in this category.

Auditory Learners:  Learn by listening.  Tend to spell phonetically.  Often times, they can remember facts in teh form of a poem, song or melody.

Kinesthetic Learners:  Learn best through movement or manipulation.  Enjoy finding out how things work.  50% of students in this category.

Many people use different learning styles in different situations.  If your child is having difficulty in school you may want to explore the way the information is being presented at school, and then approach the subject with your child at home using a different style.

Food for thought:  10% of students learn best auditorily, but 80% of instructional delivery is auditory.
