Title I Math
Mrs. Mendenhall

First grade students spent the first couple of weeks working on number recognition and shape recognition.  We learned that diamonds are also known as parallelograms and that an oval can also be called an ellipse. l

Oops!  Just turn that six around and you've got it!         Things are really "shaping up!"

Shapes aren't too easy with Play Doh,                            but we sure had fun trying!

Those are some pretty "hot" pink numbers!

All Title I classes will be working on reading charts and different types of graphs this week.  See if you can bring in some examples of different types of graphs you see in your environment for us to display in the classroom!

I am thrilled to have the opportunity to work with a few students from each grade level from first through fourth grade for Title I Math this year!  We will be using a variety of activities to supplement what their classroom teachers are teaching for that week.

I would like to encourage the use of math flash cards at home to increase every student’s ability to correctly perform simple mathematical equations more quickly and accurately.  Math facts are something that will be used for the rest of their lives, and learning them well now will help students be more successful in math throughout their futures.
